Felicity Candler-O’Donnell (Gymnastics)
I joined Sport MK in 2007. I am Club Manager for MK Springers Gymnastics, a registered charity. Our club strap line is “Gymnastic from tots to teen for the whole community of Milton Keynes”
MK Springers started five years ago with just one after school club. We then held a taster session in Morgan hall in the Radcliffe school where we signed up 30 children. Some of those gymnasts are still with us today. Today we have over 400 members on our books. This number does not include the 16 after school clubs or the growing number of Parent & Toddler sessions that we run in partnership with Sure Start.
For the past five years we have worked closely with the Radcliffe School Partnership. The partnership were so impressed with our community coaches that they asked Sarah Carey to write a scheme of work to be used by school teachers once the community coach has moved on. This scheme of work is being rolled out to all Milton Keynes primary schools. Sarah also delivers CPD training for teachers.
In April 2009 we moved to a warehouse at 16 Carters Lane, Kiln Farm, which was officially opened by the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Clr Euan Henderson on 18th October. This building is now fully equipped with all new gymnastics equipment. We offer sessions for Parent & Toddler, Pre-School, School age boys & girls, Teen Gym, and Adult Gym, thus living up to our strap line!
We also offer competitive gymnastics in General Gymnastics, Sports Acrobatics and Tumbling. Visit our web site www.mkspringers.com
